As we well know, the history of humanity is made up of different stages that have certain specific principles. Each of them responds to a very particular need or problem. In this sense, each town or region of the world responded in very different ways to the problems that were being presented to them. In the case of the Middle Ages, this is a historical stage that only developed as such in what we now know as Europe.

Aspects and characteristics of the Middle Ages:

1. The Middle Ages is a historical period that lasted approximately one thousand years since it covers the years between the 5th and 15th centuries. It is generally considered that the fall of the Western Roman Empire inaugurates this stage and that the discovery of America by Christopher Columbus closes it.
2. The Middle Ages is an exclusively European historical moment, since its phenomena did not develop in other parts of the world.
3. The Middle Ages were distinguished by a very special social, economic and political organization. In the social field, during the Middle Ages there were mainly small cities or urban centers dominated by a castle. Economic organization was based on the fiefdom, in which there was a feudal lord or king who demanded payments to his subjects who worked for him in exchange for him allowing them to live on his land. Politically, the fiefdoms became small states that base their power on military submission.

4. During the Middle Ages the Catholic religion played an extremely important role. It can therefore be said that she dominated people's lives in general.
5. Therefore, during this stage there was an epistemological and cultural stagnation given that progress and science were seen subject to religious ideas, which of course advocated because everything in this world was divine work, that is, of God.
