A signalectic token  It is an identification document in which the data of people who are in judicial process, search, or sentenced are collected.

This file must be duly stamped, numbered and dated by an authorized authority.

This file was created by Alphonse Bertillon, who was head of the judicial identification service in the prefecture of Paris.

This file must contain the following elements:

1. Name
2. Age
3. Height
4. Skin color
5. Eye color
6. Scars
7. Fingerprints of all fingers
8. Details of the individual's legal circumstances
9. Three-angle photographs of the individual in question
