    Example of Literary Figures: Separation

    The literary figures and their separation are the classification made of the tools and mechanisms used by the written language, especially literary language, thus with this separation the qualities of the literature.

    The classification involves each of the specific phenomena and is mainly divided into two categories:

    • Expression method
    • Meaning

    These categories obey the sense of the effect of each literary figure, which produces the in the literary figures the separation.

    a) By mode of expression or form of diction

    3. Allusion (references)
    4. Anastrophe

    3. Analogy (expresses similarities between ideas)
    4. Anthropomorphism (modifies thought and idea by adding human qualities)
    5. Antithesis (creates contrasts with different effects)
    6. Aphorism (proverbs and advice)
    7. Archetype (reference to thoughts and things)
    8. Author intrusion (conversation between the reader and the writer on the sidelines of the story)
    9. Bibliomancy (process of basing everything on the Bible)
    10. Cesura (expression that reflects the feeling or intention)
    11. Circumloquium or periphrasis (mode of literary expression)
    12. Conflict (dilemmas or disagreements)
    13. Deus ex Machina (unexpected expression and process in a literary text)
    14. Epilogue (alternate ending or post-ending situation)
    15. Epithet (recognition of someone for his actions)
    16. Euphemism (concept of exaggeration or step to a different process)
    17. Metaphor (figure that expresses broader or different ideas within an idea, which helps to better understand)
    18. Metonymy (handling of unusual words for a concept)
    19. Mood (refers to the thought and feeling of the protagonist and his characters)
