Example of Foods Containing Carbohydrates, Lipids and Proteins

    Chemistry   /   by admin   /   July 04, 2021

Carbohydrates, Lipids and Proteins are the main of a group of chemicals called Nutrients. A Nutrient is any substance present in food that, when in contact with the cellular structures of the human body, supports and improves their functions.

It is known that a Food is all that matter that enters the human body through the digestive system, and that when it disintegrates in digestion it participates by providing Nutrients.

For the human being, it is essential to have a diet in which there are Carbohydrates, Lipids and Proteins in abundant levels, since these chemical species are the way to provide energy and nutrition for the optimal functioning of the Body.

The way to acquire them is the consumption of plant and animal species that contain them, and that of course do not harm the body. To make the experience of eating them a pleasant one, they are prepared and transformed into foods that are friendly to the senses of taste and smell.

Carbohydrates, Lipids and Proteins, when they enter the body, will be directed to the cells, to make their Energy Contribution through the mitochondria, the cellular organ that produces Energy.

    Energy intake of nutrients

Of the existing Nutrients, which are Carbohydrates, Lipids, Proteins, Enzymes, Vitamins and Minerals, only the first three are capable of being transformed into useful energy for the human who consumes them. The last three act as enhancers of the functions of the body's apparatus and systems.

Carbohydrates are large-molecule chemical compounds, also classified as Macromolecules, and They are formed by atoms of Carbon, Hydrogen and Oxygen, in repetitive rings of Glucose and Fructose, mainly. They are also called Sugars, Carbohydrates and Carbohydrates. Upon entering the cell, the mitochondria will be able to extract 4 Kilocalories from the carbohydrate molecules per gram (4 Kcal / g).

Lipids are large molecule chemical compounds, based on glycerol structures complemented with carboxylic acid chains of different lengths. They are also made up of Carbon, Hydrogen and Oxygen. They are the most energetic Nutrients, as they will provide the body with 9 Kilocalories per gram (9 Kcal / g).

Proteins are large molecule chemical compounds, formed mainly by Carbon, Hydrogen, Oxygen and also Nitrogen. They are long chains of linked amino acids. Upon entering the cell, the mitochondria will be able to obtain 4 Kilocalories from protein molecules for each gram (4 Kcal / g), as in the case of Carbohydrates.

Proteins also have the function of strengthening muscle tissues and even helping them to develop better and increase their size. People who go to the gym frequently and have intense physical activity, take supplements that provide a large amount of protein.

This, because it happens that when the body needs to take energy after carbohydrates and available lipids are depleted, it usually takes it from proteins, and it happens that the muscles are lose weight.

Carbohydrates, Lipids and Proteins are the main of a group of chemicals called Nutrients.

Vitamins work as cofactors of some Enzymes; Enzymes that work with vitamins, depend on them and do not work in their absence.
Some Minerals serve as cofactors of some Enzymes, such as Magnesium (Mg), others serve to regulate the Cellular osmotic pressure, such as Sodium (Na) and Potassium (K), and many others serve for muscle contraction such as calcium.

There are two main types of carbohydrates: Rapidly Absorbing Carbohydrates and the Slow Absorption Carbohydrates. This division is determined by the complexity of the molecules. The larger or more numerous, the more difficult it will be to absorb or assimilate, in the case of Slow Absorption.

To be able to distinguish them, a list of foods that contain these substances and that by their nature are within our reach is presented.
