Example of Alexandrian Verses

The Alexandrian verse It is the verse of fourteen metric syllables, this verse is composed of two hemistichs of seven syllables each, the Alexandrian verses are accentuated in the third and thirteenth syllables respectively.

The Alexandrian verses have their origin in France. They are called Alexandrian verses the poems “Le Roman d’Alexandre” written by Alexandre de Paris and the poem “Alexandreis” by the poet “Gautier de Chátillon”.

The hemistichs are separated by bold and underlined in the third example so that it is understood less.

Example 1: YESTERDAY
