    Sentence structure with used to

    used toIt is an invariable construction, that is, it does not change depending on the pronoun. It is always followed by infinitive.

    The affirmative structure of sentences with used to is:

    Would + infinitive can be used as a synonym for used toto express habitual actions in the past (but not states). For example: My grandfather would tell us spooky stories by the fire at night. / My grandfather used to tell us scary stories by the fire at night.

    Careful: used toit only expresses past (not present) habits. If you want to refer to the present, you use adverbs such as usually, eitheralwaysnext to present simple. For example:I usually walk to school(And not: I use to walk to school)
