Parts of an Anthology (with examples)

    Examples   /   by admin   /   June 10, 2022

A anthology It is a set or a compilation of works or artistic texts that have been selected according to a certain criterion. For example: Anthology of the strange story, by Rodolfo Walsh.

Anthologies can be about literature, music, cinema, plastic art, among others and are made by one or several anthologists, who are in charge of choosing the content.

The criteria for carrying out this type of compilation are very varied. For example, you can choose productions that deal with the same theme; that belong to a certain time, place, genre and/or artistic current or that were made by a single author.

    Preface
    Latin American poets

When talking about Latin American poetry, generally, poems are mentioned or cited that, for the most part, were written by men. In anthologies, study books, research texts on the canon, symposiums, etc., something similar happens; very few poetic texts that have been written by women are included or analyzed.

The literary value of the work of poets such as Neruda, Benedetti, Vallejo and Martí is undeniable, but it is also necessary to recognize the importance, influence, creativity, and originality of poetry by Latin American women.

The objective of this book is that the reader can meet the most ingenious and important Latin American poets of the 20th century. For this, five poems by each author have been chosen, which represent her style and her recurring themes.

Although this selection may not be enough to account for all the characteristics of the poets' compositions, it serves as a first approach to their works.

The poems are arranged according to their publication date and according to their author. In turn, the authors are grouped by country and their appearance is in alphabetical order.

    1. Fragmentfrom the body of the anthology. After each title, the book and the year of publication are indicated.

    Alexandra Pizarnik

POEM TO MY PAPER (The foreign land, 1955)

    reading own poems
    printed sorrows daily transcendences
    smile proud misunderstanding forgiven
    it's mine it's mine it's mine
    reading cursive
    cheerful inner beat
    feel that happiness coagulates
either right or wrong or right
    strangeness of feeling innate
    harmonious and autonomous chalice
limit in big toe of tired foot and
    washed hair on curly head
    no matter:
    it's mine it's mine it's mine!!
