    English   /   by admin   /   July 04, 2021

Imperative sentences in English are those sentences that we use to give an order, make a request or give a warning.

A characteristic of imperative sentences in English is that most of the time to emphasize the imperative character of the sentence is omitted writing and pronouncing the noun or pronoun that functions as a subject, expressing only the action that must be perform:

    Take my jaket, please.

    Don’t cross the line.

    Do it again.

    Take off the necklace.

    Call me on Monday.

When the sentence has a noun as its subject, referring to who will carry out the order, to differentiate it from a sentence declarative, a comma is written after the noun, thus separating the person to whom the order is addressed and the order that is being addressed. is giving:

Declarative sentence: Jack take my jacket

Imperative sentence: Jack, take my jacket, please.

Declarative sentence: The people don't cross the line.

Imperative sentence: At all the people, don't cross the line.
