    The express subject, too known as explicit, receives this name because it is the subject whose main characteristic is to appear within the sentence, it does not matter if the subject is simple or compound, the important thing is that appears explicitly in the sentence.
    The express subject has a noun phrase that allows it to be placed in any position within the sentence, although it is most common to find it at the beginning of the sentence.

    Types of express subject according to their nucleus: simple and compound subject

    a) Simple express subject. The simple subject is the one that is formed by a single nucleus. That is, it consists of a single phrase that has a noun or pronoun as its central element (nucleus). Let's see some examples:

    • Your hands they are freezing. (The subject has only one nucleus: the noun hands).
    • The wallsof the room they were painted another color. (The subject has only one nucleus: the noun walls).

    b) Compound express subject The composite subject is one that is made up of two or more nuclei. That is, it is made up of two phrases that have a noun or pronoun as a central element (nucleus). Both phrases are joined by means of a nexus, like conjunctions y, e, ni, o. Let's see some examples:

    Types of express subject according to the grammatical voice: active subject and passive subject

    a) Active express subject. The express active subject is that of the sentences in active voice; This subject is characterized by performing the action of the verb: that is, it has an active relationship with the verb. Let's see some examples:

    • The lamps on the floor they will light the way to the altar. (The subject the lamps on the floor is an active subject since it performs the action of the verb: light up).

    b) Express taxpayer. The express passive subject is that of passive voice sentences; this subject is characterized by suffering the action of the verb: he is the recipient or beneficiary of the action. The action is performed by someone else. That is, this subject has a passive relationship with the verb. Let's see some examples:

    • The places they were distributed by the organizers as people arrived at the stadium. (The subject The places is a passive subject since it is the recipient of the action of the verb: be distributed. Someone else is the one who performs the action: organizers).
    • The entrance door It has been locked by the owners. (The subject The entrance door is a passive subject since it is the recipient of the action of the verb: be closed. Someone else is the one who performs the action: the owners).
    • All ammunition they were spent at the beginning of the game match. The subject All ammunition is a passive subject since it is the recipient of the action of the verb: be spent).
    • Aid It will be provided by a group of volunteers. (The subject Aid is a passive subject since it is the recipient of the action of the verb: be provided. Someone else is the one who performs the action: a group of volunteers).
